I'll bet if Col Brandon had answered the door, Willoughby would have done an immediate about-face. Isn't it classic how people like Willoughby are incapable of just apologizing? It always goes something like this: "I'm sorry....BUT....." He isn't sorry about anything other than he got caught. One wonders from what is read at the end of Ch 43 and through Ch 44 if Willoughby skulked around to ensure there were no men on the premises. Such a dirt-bag.
