...that in Ch. 47 when Elinor is saying all those things to Marianne (your quotes) that it is the very same day where she in her mind considered it an apology and repentance (from ch 46)?

Marianne said "Tell Mama." and ch. 46 ends when Elinor turned into the parlour to fulfil her parting injunction.
The conversation from which you quoted occurred later that evening.

I think of it more as a confession, not quite much of an apology or repentance. So I think Anselm has a point. Are we harder on Willoughby than Elinor is? Based on all this, I think I am. Or am I just nitpicking on words?
