in consequence of the missive, The ghost of Hamlet's father, penned by Barbara
I speak from a position of almost total ignorance, never having studied Hamlet. Trying to read it alone was frustrating as I knew I was missing a lot of the nuances and allusions. During this GR I did a bit of digging around, looking at synopses and character analysis, and found a confusing variety of different emphases.
I did find a lot of intriguing hints about Hamlet's relationships with Ophelia and Gertrude, his ambivalent attitudes to women in general, and the theme of whether a woman can or should love more than once - all issues which look as if they are relevant to S&S. Does anyone better informed than myself have any insights to offer on these aspects of the play? I am hoping for enlightenment.
