I very much agree with you, Rachel G   Written by Outi (10/13/2009 12:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Willoughby the Performer., penned by Rachel G
Are you new?

I think JA has marvellously created a character who has many sides and is a real and breathing person but still, as you say, hollow and empty inside. Not a plain villain at all. I see him as a person with a personality disorder, not necessarily a narcissist, but with strong narcissistic tendencies. That is also why I can't see him as all bad and reprehensible. Many of his actions and motives are not conscious. And children don't just decide that "when I grow up I want to be a narcissist", no, they have also been somebodys/somethings victims at one time.
