Of course it is Colonel Brandon who defeated him.

And now Col Brandon should ask forgiveness because Willoughby suffered so much!! He had already been suffering from his feelings for Marianne and now this. :-D
Willoughby has this way of posing as the *wronged one*.

Yes, I see that my post is not clear.
I do wonder why Col Brandon should be forgiven by him, unless his following statement about him marrying Marianne is what he means.
