and Willoughby wanted money to live on until Mrs Smith dies. That's another big reason, imo, that Willoughby didn't want to marry Eliza. Add to that the fact that she probably wasn't polished or educated well enough (he mentioned how inferior she was to Marianne) to suit his taste.

I think that Eliza having been W's mistress was very low on the list of reasons why he wouldn't marry her.
