She's also had next to no sleep   Written by Barbara (10/11/2009 5:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Elinor is in a vulnerable state of mind., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

Marianne's illness took a turn for the worse the night before. Colonel Brandon left at midnight. Mr. Haris came at 5 a.m. and back again between 8 and 9 a.m. Marianne seems to be improving at around noon, and Mr. Harris comes back again at 4 p.m. They determine Marianne is out of danger and she falls back asleep at around 6 pm. Willoughby arrives about 8 p.m. At this point, Elinor has been up for at least 36 hours (at least since getting up the previous morning) basically without sleep.

With that, with the stress she has been through, and with the influence of Willoughby's charm turned on full force, I agree that she was in a highly vulnerable state when he talked to her.
