However bad mrs F might be, do you really see her sitting at breakfast and saying "Edward I see you have a letter in a young lady's handwriting,tell me who it is from?"

Honestly I think that would be a bit ridiculous...THe reverse situation would be understandable, if Edward were a young woman, yes her mother would problaby check on her correspondence and possibly even read it before giving it ot her....
