Are you new?

Mr. Palmer is a character who shows development we can almost reach out and touch. Perhaps, as Reeba suggests, it's because of his new fatherhood. I suspect also that we are meant to infer that his earlier peevishness to his wife was really just a single aspect of a multifaceted character.

Of all the secondary characters in JA, Mr. Palmer is the most interesting to me. Like Elinor's experience, the more time I spend with him the more I find to appreciate.
