Forwarding mail   Written by Ivonne (10/8/2009 6:48 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Marianne knew his address, however,, penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

I always assumed it was common practice for people to leave forwarding information when they traveled, particularly if they owned an estate. For example, Eliza's letter to Colonel Brandon "was forwarded to [him] from Delaford" while he was at Barton. In Persuasion too, Harville's letter to Captain Wentworth "found him out at last" while he is visiting Kellynch, which sounds like it was forwarded more than once at least.

Colonel Brandon, however, tells us that Willoughby left Eliza "ignorant of his address." Did Eliza not know about Combe Magna, at least, if not his address in town? I wonder whether "John Willoughby, Combe Magna, Somersetshire" was a sufficient direction to get the letter delivered?
