I do too   Written by Outi (10/8/2009 3:23 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Predators, penned by Bridget D
Are you new?

I don't see Willoughby as a predator. I have the same kind of view of predators as you have and it doesn't fit Willoghby. His conduct is unpardonable, but I think it is an unfortunate male behaviour, which is not very uncommon. I guess anyone of us has met men who sleep around without thinking of consequenses (and nowadays also women). They just don't care who they hurt. Some of them mature with age, but some never do.

I also think that Willoughby genuinely was "in love" with Marianne and even thought of marrying her. The reality of his situation just came in the way. And his love probably wouldn't have been long lasting anyway, especially not without any money in the marriage.
