This theme of seducing 16 years old girls   Written by Outi (10/7/2009 3:30 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lydia & Eliza, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

is interesting, because it is both in S&S and P&P (where also Georgiana was nearly seduced). I wonder if it was something that happened to somebody JA knew? Or was it so common, that she wrote about it in both books?

What is evident is that in some level the seductions were ignored (even kind of approved of) in the society, because Willoughby can go on with his life without any negative consequences and even get berothed with a respactable woman. I don't remember if Wickham suffered other consequences apart from marrying Lydia? If he would have left Lydia before they were found, would he had suffered any consequences at all? The girls would of course have been excluded from the society.
