Blame Eliza/Don't Blame Eliza   Written by TimLee (10/7/2009 2:16 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Age difference, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

It seems like JA was trying to get us to consider the aphorism that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree (although I have no idea if that phrase was in popular use at the time). On the other hand, she certainly gives the reader enough reason to blame Willoughby. This ambiguity is a bit perplexing for me, but also provides wonderful fodder for the internal debate raging in my mind.

Ow, my brain hurts,
Tim

P.S. As the father of a 16 year old daughter, I blame Willoughby entirely. I hope that if I had been there in Brandon's place, Willoughby's seconds would have been required to bear a weighty burden from the field of honor. A dead weight, as it were.
