Are you new?

He often stays at Barton Park. The fact that he would stay there would indicate that it's farther away than a comfortable journey home after dinner, for example.

We had some discussion on the S&S board a while back that Forde Abbey might have been the type of home that Jane Austen had in mind. Its property includes many of the things that Mrs. Jennings described to Elinor, such as gardens, a yew arbour, a stew pond, etc.
