I thought this one too Written by Barbara (10/5/2009 11:49 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, "Thesis" of the novel in this paragraph?, penned by Heather Leigh

Elinor says this to Marianne in Ch. 37:

"Lucy does not want sense, and that is the foundation on which everything good may be built. "

How often are we seeing that acting without sense of some kind is leading people to unhappiness for themselves and for others?
