Good points -- I wonder where they did go, then   Written by kathleen (elder) (10/4/2009 3:11 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Some guesses, penned by Rachel G
Are you new?

If they left Bath, they wouldn't go to London: Willoughby didn't take Eliza to his own house, nor would he take her to a hotel & risk being seen with her. I suppose he just went to another town like Bath, and then stayed at an inn full time.

Poor Eliza -- I can't imagine that she would have had any idea how to deal with being abandoned.

I do wonder why it took her so long to get in touch w/ Col Brandon, however, if Willoughby left her by, say, June. How long could she realistically search for the scoundrel & still think she had a chance that he would marry her? Surely she knew that Col Brandon wouldn't desert her. Makes the story more interesting, of course. :-)
