How long was Willoughby w/ Eliza, I wonder?   Written by kathleen (elder) (10/4/2009 1:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Looking for Eliza, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

Here's the timeline, as far as we know: Eliza went missing from Bath in February; Willoughby showed up in Devonshire in late September (20th of September, according to Ellen Moody's calendar); Eliza's letter to Col Brandon arrives in late October (30th of October per calendar); Eliza gave birth in November (Col Brandon "found her near her delivery").

I'm wondering: (1) where Willoughby took Eliza when she left her friend in Bath; and (2) when Willoughby left her? If she gave birth in November, assuming the baby wasn't early, then she got pregnant fairly soon after running away w/ Willoughby. Did they stay in Bath until she became obviously pregnant? Did Willoughby know she was pregnant when he left her? (I realize that he probably didn't care, but did he know for sure?)

Points to ponder. :-)
