But he already had an heiress, IIRC he was courting Sophia Grey and was farily close to "reeling her in" to marriage... Unless he was hedging his bets in case she didn't marry him. But I have another question about Willoughby and Mrs Smtih finding out about him and Eliza? How did she? How woudl she know that he had actually seduced Eliza and that he "owed" her marriage as a reparatin for the damage doen to her virtue....
