What about the actual toothpick?   Written by Cathy Allen (10/3/2009 11:56 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Toothpick cases at Gray's, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

Many years ago, my Dad bought himself a Swiss Army "Officer's Knife," which, among other items, included a toothpick. It looked to be made of ivory, but I'd guess it was actually plastic.

Until then, I did not know that toothpicks were anything but thin wood, and disposable. Which made me speculate then, and again, now, on whether or not Robert Ferrars' actual toothpick was also jeweled. We can't tell from the text, but perhaps someone knows if such a thing existed then? I'd think that an actual jewelled TOOTHPICK, would be even more ridiculous than a jewelled toothpick case!
