The description of the young man in Gray's shop in Chapter 33 (who turns out to be Robert Ferrars) reminded me of the above quoted description of his mother.

"a kind of notice which served to imprint upon Elinor the remembrance of a person and face, of strong, natural sterling insignificance, though adorned in the first style of fashion."

So far he lacks only the lucky contraction of brow to rescue his face from insipidity & give it the character of pride & ill nature, but he has plenty of time to acquire these improvements & I don't doubt he has plenty of aptitude for them.
