Willoughby and Eliza: More questions than answers...   Written by Jeffrey (10/1/2009 12:36 p.m.)
Are you new?

Would some of our more perceptive group-readers enlighten us as to how Willoughby met Eliza and ruined her? Was it Willoughby gaining intelligence from Col Brandon regarding Eliza? Was it a sinister pre-meditated plot by Willoughby to do this? I'm guessing that Willoughby carefully plotted her downfall well in advance but I haven't the time to make a painstaking research into the story to extract the particulars. At this point in the novel, Willoughby comes across as a total scoundrel. Is his wife aware of his de-flowering of Eliza? Lots of questions begging answers.
