The two Elizas confuse things. I was thinking of the child Eliza. Instead of setting her up with the lady supervising 4 or 5 other girls, he could have brought her home to Delaford after he inherited it. This has parallels with Darcy setting Georgiana up with Mrs. Younge instead of bringing her home to Pemberley, which almost had disastrous results with Wickham.
