I think this shows that Mrs Jennings is essentially a warm, generous person who doesn't stand on ceremony. These 'elderly ladies' are her intimate acquaintance, and if they happened to have made other arrangements for that day, I don't think Mrs J would be in any way offended, just even more pressing for them to dine with her tomorrow.
