Just more of Miss Austen's genius shining forth here. She has given us dear readers either the illusion or the actuality of so much more going on beneath the surface than what is actually seen at a cursory reading.

Sooooo, might we have TWO secret engagements rather than just ONE?

Thanks to Barbara B for listing the rules of proper decorum during courtship in an earlier posting.

Following that list of rules, if secret engagements are frowned upon, does that change your opinion of Edward and Lucy?
