Sorry, that I didn´t post this earlier - I am having a hard time to follow all those interesting threads. Earlier in this group read there was a discussion on names and their meaning (it was about Willoughby´s horse IIRC). I was wondering about the name of Combe Magna. I guess that the term "magna" indicates, Willoughby wanted to sound his residence somewhat grand and sophisticated. But is there any deeper meaning? Hope this is not to late to ask...
