Maps of London.   Written by Rachel G (9/27/2009 2:53 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Whoa! This is wonderful! I will spend HOURS!, penned by Cathy Allen
Are you new?

If you like maps, I suggest you explore further among the Crace Collection of London Maps at the British Library, which is where I found the 1807 map which I posted above. It's a huge collection (1200+ maps); a pity the index is not chronological though.

Two other maps in the Crace Collection which are relevant to S&S are Cary's 1790 and Phillips 1810. Among other things you can see that the land just to the north of Portman Square was being developed from open fields during that period, so the residents of this elegant area were living next to a perpetual building site!

Another wonderful source of maps and images of London past is the MOTCO Database of Images and Maps of London past. (Linked below - thankfully well indexed.)
Exploring that lot should keep you out of mischief all winter!
Enjoy!
