Well, I think the thought was rather flattering to Elinor   Written by Elbč (9/25/2009 3:04 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, How can Elinor forgive Edward so quickly?, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

that Edward was so taken with her that it was a trial to his self-control to take himself away from Norland. It is proof of his strong affection for her - and I think Elinor likes that idea. Once again, her romantic side peeping through.

Edward could not tell her about Lucy - no more than she herself can tell it to her mother or Marianne and I think this situation allows her to feel simpathy for Edward.
