People person   Written by Barb JA (9/25/2009 8:22 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I can see the argument for immaturity..., penned by Trish W.
Are you new?

I don't know whether it's immature or not. I'm inclined to think that the poor man needs to be given a break. He's just a social person.

I love that whole scene you quoted from and how Sir John and Mrs Jennings are busy talking up a storm at the window, while everyone else is brought in to the room. I too like his bit of discernment there, asking if Marianne ran away because they came. :-) One could imagine she often did that.

I think that Sir John and Mrs. Jennings are the most lovable of Austen's doofy characters.

ch 21
Benevolent, philanthropic man! It was painful to him even to keep a third cousin to himself.
