Perhaps that's why she changed it Written by Barb JA (9/24/2009 10:50 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Was S&S ever a novel-in-letters?, penned by Anselm

Besides Elinor's confessions to Marianne in Ch.4, basically the whole of S&S consists of Elinor hiding her many of her true thoughts, feelings, and opinions from everyone. So I think the novel couldn't be epistolary for us to get to know Elinor well.
