Are you new?

Elinor's instant belief that the hair must be hers, when she normally weighs all evidence so carefully, combined with the fact that she is not upset that Edward would have done such a thing shows another side of her. She is normally very rational and collected, but she is also a 19-year-old girl in love.

For all of Marianne's belief that Elinor does not have deep or strong feelings, Elinor is very taken with Edward, and the idea of a romantic gesture from him when she has not always been sure of his feelings perhaps overcomes her normal careful deliberatioin
