Making their marriage work   Written by Barbara (9/21/2009 5:25 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Palmer's Relationship, penned by BarbaraB
Are you new?

Don't forget, though, that they've only been married a short while--a year or two?

It might be quite a different story twenty some years down the road (like the Bennets), after she has taken enough of his verbal abuse and she's annoyed him past endurance. They have one child on the way, and each successive child will change the dynamic as well. What if there are a whole bunch of girls who all act exactly like Charlotte? What if she can cope with having him speak to her that way, but not bear it if he is so rude and unkind to their children?

I think they are far too early in their marriage to say they're 'making it work'.
