What a perfect quote you have given there. Marianne, being such a clever girl, never seems to turn her thoughts inwards, does she? She's describing herself, yet hasn't a clue!

It reminds me of the previous thread about her absolutism. She's always so busy judging others' foibles, but never thinks about her own actions.

I love that quote too, because it's another perfect instance of how Austen gives words to certain characters for specific reasons. In that scene, Elinor and Marianne are probably thinking the same thing; but Marianne's voicing of it provides the irony! :-)
