Marianne is 17 now   Written by Barbara (9/20/2009 7:19 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mrs. D and Marianne, penned by Carol J.
Are you new?

She was sixteen when the story started 10 months earlier. By the time Willoughby leaves in early November, she's 17.

I think the words 'romantic delicacy' sum up Mrs.Dashwood's reasons, even if they aren't good ones. She thinks it indelicate to ask such a question about a romantic matter, and is confident that Marianne must have a reason for staying silent on it at this time.
