and earlier in that same conversation, "I felt sure that you was angry with me..."

and later, "I do really believe, that if you was to say to me..."

Lucy's little grammatical errors when she's trying to sound refined and sincere are such a great index of her class and character. I love how Austen subtly conveys that Lucy works hard to seem "genteel," but still doesn't speak with true elegance.
