On the image of mothers and their differences...   Written by Trish W. (9/18/2009 6:02 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, a foil to Dashwood ladies, and a negative image of woman, penned by Heather Leigh
Are you new?

As a homeschool mom I can see how easily it is to get wrapped up in your children, (which is why I am constantly reading and pursuing my own interests, b/c my kids will benefit from a well rounded mother, IMO) but what will become of Lady M when her children are grown and gone? Perhaps she will become the obsessive, controlling mother we see in Mrs. F? Mrs. F is so wrapped up in the performance of her sons without a care for their contentment and it seems Fanny D. is doomed to follow regarding her "poor little Harry."

OTOH, Mrs D. is also wrapped up in her daughters' lives in regard to forwarding their happiness to a fault, blinding her to imprudence and impropriety.

Now Mrs. J seems to so little wrapped up in her daughters' lives since she has married them off that it leaves her with too much idle time to spend gossiping about others.

Is this a lesson from Jane? Stay occupied and mind your own business?
