The use of seasons to set the tone   Written by JoAnn (9/17/2009 2:51 p.m.)
Are you new?

I was struck with the perfect matching earlier in the book of the exodus from Norland with autumn, the season of decline, and am trying to keep an eye on what's happening with seasons as the story progresses. We know that Jane Austen did this beautifully in Persuasion, and I'm wondering if it will continue here. I haven't found other seasonal references or identifiers in the reading so far - have I missed any? I don't have time to do it right now, but has anyone constructed a timeline for this story so that, even if the seasons aren't specified, they can be extrapolated?
