Somehow this is only the second time I've read S&S, although in the interim I've become very familiar with the movie adaptations. While I loved the book the first time I read it, I had lost sight since then of the beauty of the language, the detail of the character descriptions, the depth of the characters themselves, and the general brilliance of the whole enterprise. I think it just goes to remind me that no adaptation can possibly come close to capturing Jane's genius.
I've been reading the book along with you all, though not having much time to keep up well on either reading or posting on the board, and just wanted to share how much enjoyment and just plain joy I'm getting from this, since I know that you all totally understand. Thanks to all of you for the impetus to re-read S&S, and for your wonderful discussion of it (for as much as I'm able to read). I look forward to the rest of this GR!
