Edward strange, Willoughby not so much   Written by LouAnn (9/17/2009 1:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Visting anytime..., penned by Moni

Mrs. D. is correct in inviting Edward to come for a visit to Barton, because he's a relative. But his just showing up with no letter ahead of time is odd.

In the case of Willoughby, he's a neighbor so coming for short calls during the day is not rude for him at all. Staying for longer and longer periods, though, will lead people to believe he is pursuing one of the girls. He is ostensibly calling on Mrs. Dashwood as the lady of the house, so it wouldn't matter if she had a husband or not.
