You're probably right that Elinor was busy   Written by kathleen (elder) (9/17/2009 5:25 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, What Elinor Did, penned by maud l

but I was thinking of her intellectual life. She had "no companion that could make amends for what she had left behind," and "[n]either Lady Middleton nor Mrs. Jennings could supply to her the conversation she missed ... ."

I think she kept busy at both Norland and at Barton, though in different ways. At Barton, Mrs Jennings repeats herself and Lady Middleton is boring; Elinor evidently doesn't have other companions in this neighbourhood. But if it's just Edward's conversation that she misses, then I am wondering if she ever had a companion at Norland with whom she could talk, really talk.

This may be making a mountain out of a molehill on my part. :-)
