Seven years... Written by Barbara (9/16/2009 9:19 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, They have known each other for some time, penned by CarolTS

At least seven years, because that at least how long Sir John and Lady Middleton have been married.

However, I don't entirely disagree with Marianne's earlier statement: "Seven years would be insufficient to make some people acquainted with each other..."

I don't mean to suggest that Sir John and Colonel Brandon are not sufficiently acquainted with each other. They are 'particular' friends, after all, and Colonel Brandon seems to stay at Barton Park a lot. Clearly they enjoy each others' company.

But to me, those comments seem rather 'deep' for Sir John, and especially personal to say in front of a large group of people.
