Poverty and horses   Written by Barbara (9/15/2009 1:42 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Something wrong from his first visit, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

Willoughby intends to send his groom to Sommersetshire and bring the horse back for Marianne from Coombe Magna. When he is living so far above his income that others have noticed it and complains of being short of money himself, rather than trying to rid himself of the horse's room and board, it makes me wonder why a man who is clearly not in a financial position to do so would do something so extravagant?

It may be a grand gesture to send a groom to another county to bring back a horse, but can Willoughy really afford to do that? Would that make a desirable marriage partner--someone who spends so impulsively when they can't afford it?
