Maybe Austen is highlighting the strength and honesty of Marianne's love. She, a Dashwood of Norland, is immediately willing to overlook Mr. Willoughby's common relations and love him without reservation. She does not care that his fortune may come from trade or from an individual named Smith. She does not care if he has a fortune at all. She loves Willoughby without calculation. Contrast this with Mr. Darcy's agitations and hesitations due to Miss Elizabeth Bennet's common relations on her mother's side.
