i LOVE this comparison! Thanks for pointing it out. And I agree that at this stage in the book (unless we've read it before) we have few reasons to believe Willoughby is anything but a dashing, ardent, headstrong, lively young man. In retrospect we can see darker signs in his snide banter about Colonel Brandon, his pushing the limits of propriety with Marianne, and his deliberately making himself into Marianne's "ideal man" by mimicking all her literary/artistic tastes... but for now, I think the other characters are not wrong or deluded to accept him at face value.
