Why I read it as Marianne being taller   Written by kathleen (elder) (9/14/2009 11:24 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Correction., penned by Reeba

Here is how I read it:

Marianne's form, though not so correct as Elinor's, was more striking in being taller. (Or: Marianne's form, in having the advantage of height, was more striking even though not so correct than Elinor's.)

As I said, I think it can be read either way -- all the commas make it a bit confusingl.
