I dare say that Marianne would disapprove of my tastes, since I enjoy Pope! Thank you for the etext links, Barbara.

My favourite Pope quotation:

""Men must be taught as if you taught them not, And things unknown proposed as things forgot.".

I wonder what other literature, besides Cowper, Marianne would have enjoyed. If Marianne had been born a couple of decades later, I can easily see her relishing the wild passion of the Bronte novels.
