I wasn't sure whether if the description came from Willoughby or the narrator. How does one figure that out? It seems just before the description we started to enter Willoughby's thoughts a bit with the sentence you posted and this one prior.

That's also interesting what you say about Miss Dashwood. I hadn't noticed that.
I too thought that the description mean Marianne was taller, mainly because I think taller people are generally more striking.
