Are you new?

May be Willoughby wanted to give Marianne the horse so that he didn't have to maintain it anymore? It was easy to boast about it, too, since he bred it himself. I tended not to think money to be a reason since he was going to buy Marianne a horse, but since he already had it and wanted to get rid of it... that's another point in the favor of expenses.
