Are you new?

Marianne said that she knew it wasn't improper for her to visit Allenham w/ Willoughby because she wouldn't have enjoyed herself if it had been. Yet, she was embarrassed that Mrs Jennings discovered it. If she really thought it was OK, then why keep it a secret at all -- especially since she's such an advocate of complete openness!

This is another instance of Marianne's inconsistency (& immaturity), imo, since she asserts that her enjoyment of the tour meant that there was no impropriety and yet she's embarrassed when the subject is canvassed.

I wonder if Willoughby told her to keep it a secret? He should have known that going off alone w/ Marianne was not proper, let alone visiting Allenham.
