Willoughby keeps his wits about him :-)   Written by kathleen (elder) (9/12/2009 6:17 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Willoughby in action. (long), penned by nan duval
Are you new?

In Chapter 13 Mrs Jennings teases Marianne:

"I have found you out in spite of all your tricks. I know where you spent the morning."

Marianne coloured, and replied very hastily, "Where, pray?" --

"Did not you know," said Willoughby, "that we had been out in my curricle?"

Marianne was embarrassed, but Willoughby was able to respond coolly. Maybe he is trying to divert Mrs Jennings, hoping that she is just fishing for information. I do wonder if this is a sign that he is experienced at changing the subject, however, to avoid any unpleasant situations. :-)
