At the beginning of Chapter 10, we read: "Marianne's preserver, as Margaret, with more elegance than precision, stiled Willoughby ... ."

Is this satirical? What, exactly, is elegant about "preserver"? I do agree that it's not really a precise descriptiong, but ... .
